Myself and another IDA member are tentatively planning a trip to 9 this Friday, we’ll probably fish out of Lansing or maybe Blackhawk. It wouldn’t be too hard to convince us to fish pool 10 or 11 either.

We’ll fish during the day, and then maybe head to the Falling Rock for some and grub before heading south.

    Joe,
When you fish Lansing where do you pick up bait at? Is there a shop right in Lansing?

    Joe,
I would definately be interested as I’ve fished this pool ever since I’ve been old enough to walk, which I’m 25 years old so I know my way around pretty well, we have a trailor in Lansing. Let me talk to the wife tonight, I know we planned on heading up Friday night, be glad to have you fish with myself or show you around. Caught alot of walleyes this summer up there and it should be getting hotter as water temps cool down. Keep in touch. My email address is [email protected]. Thanks

There was a few years ago (last time I was up there) a place called Grumpy’s Bait and Tackle right on the river South of the bridge about two blocks.

Grumpy’s is now closed. Your best bet is across the river in Desoto. Just north of town there is a bait shop. They do have night crawlers and tackle at the Amoco station in Lansing. Depends on what you need.

Thanks Bowen. I am wanting to launch at Lansing to put some time on a new motor and go upriver to Blackhawk Park. I was not sure if they had bait at the park.

Actually, the last few times I have been up that way, I didn’t use any bait (just cranks) or I stopped at that little store at the Blackhawk ramp or the Falling Rock on the Wisconsin side. As the other fellas have stated, there is a shop in Desoto as well.
I was thinking maybe we could put in sometime between 7 and 8 Friday morning, perhaps have a shore lunch on one of the islands around 12:30, then head to a local watering hole for a quick before heading home.

Since Gianni and I will be coming from the CR area, it will take us about 2-1/2 hours to get to the Lansing area. I usually launch on the island in the refuge, then hook out into the river.

I will have my VHF on in my boat, should you guys want to reach me that way to discuss fishing or coordinate lunch plans.

I’m interested in knowing if anyone else is interested in the shore lunch idea?

    Regards,
