Finally going to take a day off and wet a line. All this work and travelling has got me ready to hit the water somewhere.

Anyone up for a trip? I’m thinking pool 11, 12, or 14 on the Miss, or maybe try lake BelvaDeer, since I haven’t been there yet. I was going to wait for safe ice, but if someone has a positive report, I might see clear to make the drive.

Certainly no shortage of bills around here lately. We’ve been thinking about moving and basically by the time I get done with all these projects, my house will be livable again!

Possible that I’ll just stay home and work on the bathroom floor, which I currently have ripped into a million pieces….

I left the boat at home today and hit (get this) the Buffalo creek for some crankin’. Started the day with a 1 1/2″ white rattletrap, which caught about 20 bass, followed by a dandy of a tree. Switched up to a 2″ crankbait and picked up about 15 more fish. To get them all, I had to wade about a mile of stream; it was quiet, solitary, and very pleasant.

The fish were pretty evenly split between smallies and largemouths, with only three or four of them topping the 12″ mark. On ultralight tackle, these fish were a blast. Makes me wonder why I keep letting people talk me into walleye fishing all the time.

Next week, those walleyes had better watch out, though.

    Gianni,
This sounds like a great time. I have never fished the Buffalo, but have a relative that does often with good success. Just curious, were you N or S of hiway 20?

Waaaay South of 20 bud. I used to live right North of Winthrop when I was a kid and still have a lot of friends and relatives up there.

That far North I don’t know if the Buffalo holds enough water for fish to survive the winter. Maybe in the park there right along hwy 20 there’s a hole? Never really explored it that far North because it’s just so small and runs through private property. Most people wouldn’t mind, but I know a few of them would be torqued.

Work is wicked busy, but I may be game later this week, especially with the cool weather on the way and if I get my newest “invention” working. I spanked some fish today on 11, went for walter and ended up with a nice mixed bag, including a nice northern that got my picture up on the wall at the bait shop in Guttenberg.

Walleyes/Smallies on the wingies hittin’ 3-ways, northerns in the backwaters hitting anything…

    Regards,
