John, look up Angler’s Nook for the long pole. He advertises at the top of the ice fishing page I think.

YES!There are many reasons I love ice fishing. It’s nice to get all bundled up and go sit on a bucket,no boat control,no break to stay on.Vertical jigging is one of my favorite ways to fish,I feel ya have alot more contact with the fish.As far as long poles go never tryed one on the ice,but saw someone use a long pole and wondered how well it worked.Hope we have a long cold winter IceJohn!

If you click on the link below it will take you to the Rochester Area Lakes Forum where you can click on ”HOF” which is Mike Smith at Hooked On Fishing Bait and Tackle in Rochester Minnesota [and send him a pm] and they make reg. rods and ice fishing rods with St. Croix blanks. Mike is an ice fishing fanatic and they will make you any rod you want. Send him a pm or call him at 507-282-4982. James is designing him a site where he will be selling rods on line and sending them out so mailing them out is no problem.

    Thanks, Bill

I think he’s looking for one of those Pulsator rods that everyone was using at the get together last winter. Brian “Birdman” used to sell them at his shop also, but I haven’t seen him around the website in forever. You might try shooting him a PM and see if he still checks in.

As far as ice fishing goes, yes I’m a fanatic, but don’t forget, it’s supposed to be 100° in the shade right now. I love this weather, gets me pumped for bowhunting, but my guess is we’ve got a solid 4 months to safe ice. Plenty of time to get fresh line and blow the spiderwebs out of the Mr Heater.

    Hello Icejohn !!

How the heck you been !!! I thought maybe you took off for iceland or something to get the ice fix…

Those pulsator rods at the ticket !!

Anglers Nook has the best ones i have used by far…Birdman also has a great selection of ice jigs that i have found…the best ones i have had luck with the past years were the Little Mic’s in a varity of colors…This year I’m gonna have to stock up with them and also I want to try the Rock-a-Roo’s…It’s gonna be a great year on the hard water…We’ll see ya out there !!
