    Ok, here’s the deal:

I fished there 6/3, 6/4, 6/6 and 6/8. We bagged walleyes on the first two trips; on the last two; jumbo white bass but no eyes. PC is only 35 minutes from my house, so its an easy trip to fish a few hours after supper. I have been fishing from about 8PM-11PM. Sunset to the first hour of darkness worked best on the days we caught them.

Based on the report we read on here about the ‘eyes hitting over Memorial Day, we decided we needed to head over there and get our share.

    Here’s the breakdown:

    6/3- 1 20″ 3# ‘eye
    6/4- 1 19″ 3# ‘eye, 1 17″ ‘eye, 1 15″ ‘eye, 1 12″ ‘eye (kept the 3 eaters and tossed back the baby)
    6/6- 1 17″ white bass
    6/8- 1 17″ white bass

Water temps were hovering in the low-mid 70’s last night at the surface. Since we know nothing else (two transplanted southerners who have received crack-commando walleye instruction by grand-ninja walleye master supreme, his greatness ecnook ) we have been long-lining cranks. We started just off the beach, as it was posted they were in there along the points and drop-offs. The beach was good to us last Thursday/Friday, but has cooled down since then. A more experienced local fisherman attributed our lack of fish last night to a big-time falling barometer. Last night, we only made two passes over the drop-offs out from the beach, but were marking fish everywhere just above the weeds and on the bottom in 18′-8′ of water, but we could not raise a fish.

Some discussion at the fish house on Sunday night revealed that fish were being caught in the cove near the boat rental. We gave that a few passes too last night, and marked fish, but no takes.

When they were on, a fire-tiger JSR-5, pulled within a few feet of the bottom has worked best. We did catch one on a blue shad pattern as well.

There was a lot of commotion last night, ~6 boats, working a spot about an 1/8 of a mile down from the main boat ramp near the southern shore; but we never figured out what they were catching. I couldn’t tell you the exact speed we trolled, other than the little dial on the electric was set between 3 and 4.

I’ve just started this walleye thing, so I must stress, I’m pretty green. But, that’s a basic idea of what bagged us the elusive PC walleyes.

    Joe,
Didn’t even realize that there were whities in PC. What’d you get those on? Like I said, any help is much appreciated, haven’t fished the lake since I was 10 or 11 when big B used to take me….. Any advice is news to me!

Little B , try slip bober and a leach, trolling cranks like Joe said or the good old proven mister twister(white)

Joe, pretty sure I saw you Tues, I did see the 6 boats working the south shore—chasing bass i figure, what do you think?

    Little B:

We got the big white bass on the same Jointed Shad Raps (JSR-5) that we were trolling for the ‘eyes. It was about the same time each night; they must have been coming up from the depths crusing the sand dunes off the beach looking for supper.

    Wahly:

Yep, Larry and I were in the flat-bottom working the water just off the beach. I am new to the area, so I am still learning that lake, but it could have been bass they were working. I saw some small bass chasing minnows near the ramp just as we launched. It seemed like those guys in the flotilla were in some deeper water, though. Maybe one boat caught and ‘eye, then the rest all had to have a look, you know how it is sometimes.

    Regards,

    Joe

Thanks for the advice guys! No eyes last night, but we stopped trolling as we got into the whites working the surface and just pounded them! What a great time! We’ll be back down this PM if anybody’s out, we’re the two guys in the little red Lund, you can hear us before you see us, feel free to stop and say hi!
