    All:

With the gates open at LD10 and other things going on this weekend, we opted to try fishing close to home; I never made it out to Cassville, but you’ll have these things. Larry Preston joined me on my boat this afternoon. We met up with John around 2:30 or so, who was toolin’ around in his bayliner while we launched my BUG (BigUglyGreenBoat).

With walleye perpetually on the mind, I decided to troll over an old submerged roadbed that reputedly produced walter on the odd occasion. Well, truth is I don’t know where than roadbed is exactly, but we trolled over it nonetheless. We pulled jointed Shad Raps along several drop-offs and coves, but only produced 4 sub-legal bucket-mouths. Those little guys fought well, though.

The motorguide DS82 is proving to be quite a trolling motor. I also “Christened” a new early Father’s Day Present, a St. Croix glass premier. I have been missing the feel of glass in a trolling/cranking rod since I was kid. The St Croix rod felt good at the store, and it felt even better on the water pulling those cranks and hefting those scrappy largemouths from the depths. My wife can thank St. Croix “pusher” Dave Koonce for getting me addicted while out on his boat last week.

Firetiger was outfishing the other colors. Larry was pointing to the sky and it looked like the second coming, at which point, I gunned her to shore-I wanted no part of that blow; no wake regs be damned!

Be careful out there, the weather can change in the blink of an eye.

It’s amazing that we didn’t get soaked while we were trailering the boats. The sky went from blue to black, to blacker, to pitch-black in about fifteen minutes. If I hadn’t been having so much trouble hitting my trailer in the 40-or-so mph crosswind, I would’ve snapped a picture of the windsurfer who was definitely in violation of the no-wake rule as he blew across the lake at probably 25mph.

Even though I blanked on the fish today, I got to spend some time outside, and more importantly, it was a good day to waste some time at the ramp bolting on the new trailer bunks. Now I can spend a productive day on the water instead of cursing the trailer.

    Thanks for the report KornKing
I always enjoy reports from PC. We used to fish gills there quite often. Keep em coming.
