Got out to Devil’s Lake yesterday afternoon. I had class till 11 so we headed out after that. We got set up at about 2 for some walleyes. We didn’t catch our first fish till about 4 pm and that was only 13″ so we let it go. At about 4:30 the action started to pick up and at a little after 6 pm we had caught 8 walleyes and kept 6 of them between two of us. We stayed out till about 7 pm but didn’t graph or have a bite for the final hour we were out there. The largest fish we had was just over 20″. We caught all the fish jigging, none of the fish hit a set line. This has been the way we have caught all our fish this year so far. The most popular jigs were buckshot rattle jigs or weasels tipped with a minnow head. Glow in the dark color worked the best for me.
Also if anyone was wondering there isn’t much for snow on the lake right now, at least the places we went too. Where there was snow, there was usually a road plowed from what we could see.
Hoping to head back out there all day this sunday and I will post on how we did.
