Ft. Peck Lakers

I’m headed to Fort Peck March 8th 9th & 10th. This will be a 1st on the lake and also a 1st chasing lakers. Our bite in ND has been very spotty almost all winter. So I thought I’d give this trip a try. I’ve watched IDO, Jason Mitchell, Mike Howe and local self made videos,
For what feels like 100 shows and “assume” I have a decent idea.

I’m not looking for anyone’s coordinates, a handout is far from my intentions. Nothing’s learned without the learning process. But as we only have 2.5-3 days our window is quite short by the time we can hopefully figure anything out. I’m curious if anyone has any tips/tricks as far as access, depths, rough locations to try, or even where to stay away from etc. I will have my wheeler with tracks & calf sleds, 3 people total, 1 person has never fished hard water even. This is truly the first time ever ive asked for info/advise on social media, my pride vanishes at the thought of a handout. But since this is out of me wheelhouse any info would be helpful and much appreciated. If I could/can help anyone out with most central ND info I’d be more that happy to help. I could even let someone know my exact trip when I’m done if there heading there soon after!

Thanks all, keep your lines tight!

There have been a few reports from February posted on here. Look them up.

We were there a few weeks ago, if you are going to the north end, stop in and talk with Ed at Lakeridge, he is very helpful and a good guy.

I can give you a spot to try that isn’t far from Duck Creek Rec area, its a smaller spot, but I caught one there and had another get off right below the ice. I would say 40-60fow on good structure, steep breaks or thin deep ridges. I wish we would’ve tried over on the east side of the dam….

That being said, we saw lakers on camera up shallow, 12-20fow, and I had a 10+lber get off right at the ice in 22fow.

Awsome, thx for the info. I’m sure I’ll use it. I think were planning on staying east for at least 2 of the days. Then probably hit some of the Duck Creek structure.

The spot I was referring to is straight south or across the bay from Duck Creek Rec area accesses. There is a point that extends east into the lake, we had good walleye action up on the point, 11-16fow.
The point drops off, to about 50fow, then comes back up on a smaller hump to about 37fow. That saddle in between the end of the point and the hump is really narrow with steep drops on both sides. There is also a steep drop on the north side of that hump. The saddle is where I caught one, had another up to the hole, and had another chasing for a bit, all in a couple hours of fishing. If you have the navionics app for your phone, you can see what I am referring to. The water level is about 10-14ft deeper than the navionics says right now.
