Taking a quick trip to Ft. Myers to warm up and do some inshore fishing. Does anyone have a guide that they could recommend? I’m at the mercy of google right now.

I’ve used Captain Dean Bos out of Naples/Sanibel when I lived down there. If you’re going now in the winter, Tripletail are a fun fish to catch, especially the way Dean goes after them. Won’t be until much later in the spring you find the snook, tarpon, redfish but he might find some. There’s always something biting. Dean is a midwestern guy, Illinois I think. Not an East-coasterner if you know what I mean …

@frydog62 did you keep and eat any tripletail? I’ve heard it is phenomenal.

It is a very narrow slot due to overharvest in years past… many fish tagged and tracked now. Best described as a larger, thicker crappie fillet. Excellent table fare!!

I have not fished with the Ozzies… Ozzie Fischer and Ozzie Leesinger… but I have watched several tv shows where both have been used. Ozzie F. was also a pretty permanent fixture on the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series (PTTS) trail. I know that both have been fairly busy, although I also see more of Ozzie F.’s stuff on Facebook… I have always wanted to fish with him, but have never had the time. My niece was down there for a bit, just moved to Sarasota and my bro and his son-in-law fished with another guide that was probably more pocket book friendly… I’ll try to get his name…

I have a place in Cape Coral. Fish all over. The d and d bait shop in matlache is a great start also capt robs bait they will set you up. Most guides will be fishing pine island sound area for trout. Snook and reds are possible but time of year is the issue. Shore fishing can be good. One of my favorite is the pier on sanibel. Tarpon bay adventures rents kayaks and the bay is full of trout and reds. When exactly are you going? I will be down end of feb with the ranger.

Look up bo Johnson. I can’t find his number. He is a riot and one of the best in the area. Capt robs bait on del Prado will have it.
