Just a wee bit of a rant tonight. If you are easily offended you might wanna take your blankie and curl up in the fetal position and watch TV.

So, the weather guy predicted snow a few days ago. How much, he didn’t know he just knew it would snow. And it is, so kudo’s to him. So all the transplants to Minnesota where it has snowed every year of my life, you had fair warning. You knew it would snow. You knew you don’t like driving in snow. You know you don’t know how to handle driving in snow. So, what do you do. You hop in your little itty bitty 2 cylinder car, find a 2 lane hiway and see how many cars you can get behind you while driving 30 mph in a 60 mph zone. The answer is nearly 30 including 5 big snowmobile trailers stretching ¾ mile behind you. grin

Now if this was you and you are reading this here are a few tips. If the cars are piling up behind you it’s ok to put your blinker on and get off the road until they are all past you. If the roadway is mostly dry it’s safe to drive the speed limit. If you can clearly see the centerline on the highway it’s safe to drive the speed limit. If you can see the fog line it’s safe to drive the speed limit. If you realized on the drive home you didn’t get your wife anything for Valentines Day it’s perfectly ok to pull off the road and sob a little bit bawling , but at some point you will still need to go home. (BTW, I’ve seen bigger dandruff flakes then what the snowflakes falling were.)

Hope you all have a peaceful Valentines Day evening. toast

A few years ago i was driving down one of our very winding country roads that don’t give many opportunities to pass, following a vehicle going about half the speed i would have like to have gone. It was icy but this seemed pretty excessive.

At the next intersection the vehicle went into the right turn lane so I got to see the driver when I went straight. It looked to be a 16-year-old girl scared out of her mine. Kind of made me reflect on my own stupid selfish feelings and I’ve tried to have more respect and patience since.

Usually you do, you just have to control the temper this time around and no one will know.

This. I am as inpatient as the next guy but everyone has the same right to the road as we do. Disagree with seeing the center and fogline that it’s automatically ok to drive the speed limit. Often times the driving lanes become hardpacked (icy) from vehicle traffic yet the lines are clearly visible.

Not everyone has the experience or abilities that we may have driving in adverse conditions. If they rush and create and accident with many vehicles right behind them the possible pileup or delay will be much worse that just following them for awhile at a slower speed. Patience is a virtue.
