So i got the clam 120volt electric ice auger for a sweet deal back in January 2020 but starting after that season when ever i start drilling just after wards and right before it breaks through usually it tends to twist to the point that I have to stop and move with it so I don’t get sent flying and someone i know and from what i have seen from other electric augers it doesn’t have that problem and since i can’t contact frictionless world about it I was wondering what causes this and what to do about it?

I don’t fully understand why you and no one else would be having an issue. Do you wear a good gripping set of cleats when you are on the ice. Having good contact with the ice prevents many issues and accidents when out on the ice.

Do you know how a drill or impact driver will have kickback
My auger will do the same thing which is something I haven’t noticed and my friend said hasn’t happened with hisAnd I hold and drill the exact same way the6 do

How do you test the blades and how do you sharpen without messing the blades up I have been unable to find places around me that would sharpen the blade

I had issues with my strikemaster the first few times I tried it but I was letting up on the throttle just as I was about to break through. Now I hold it wide open the whole time and no issues whatsoever.July 12, 2023 at 10:47 am #2213077I am just sorry you bought the Calm auger, A buddy bought their gas auger a few years back and that thing was the biggest piece of junk ever.

To be fair it was just a blue Strikemaster. Those Solos can be very finicky to start, but mine was fantastic. There is a routine to starting them and the gas lines were known to go bad but other than that it was fantastic. Now I have an electric 40v and wont go back. Something I never thought I would say.

I thought it was the rebranded trophy strike auger

July 12, 2023 at 5:38 pm #2213177The one he is talking about is the clam 120V electric auger. Not the old gas ones.
