Frank Lloyd Wright inspired dog gate

I’ve been needing to build a dog gate for at the cabin as the chunk of cardboard hasn’t been cutting it lately. Figured I might as well build something decent and I didn’t have anything else to do today. It was a 4 stage glue-up but using the festool domino made quick work out of the joinery. I’m thinking of spray painting it hammered black but the FW wants it stained.

Frank Lloyd Wright is pretty much my Architectural Idol, the Man was a Genius and way ahead of his time. I love the symmetry of his work it’s absolutely brilliant the way he works it into his projects.
If you ever get a chance to visit Taliesin or Taliesin West I highly recommend the tours. Oh, yeah he was a little nuts also.

The gate looks cool. I don’t know much about his specific style I just know from working on a few of the houses he designed that they suck to work on. The angles made it a PIA.

    Looks fantastic waytogo

Not a very good looking species stained imo, let alone hoping you sanded all the glue off the joints. Maybe I’m just partial but the Hammered look would look great toast

FLW was a genius so I’m told. His designs are great and beautiful to look at but, the what I have seen are very energy inefficient and a PIA to work on.

Wright’s designs were breathtaking and far ahead of the capability of the materials available during his lifetime. I drive through Cloquet on my way to the hunting shack, always get out of the FLW gas station.

That’s some nice work. I wish I had the patience to do something like that. Or the skill for that matter.

I have always been a fan of FLR and I think you nailed it. FLR is my second Architectural idol behind Michael Graves.

I have been wanting to buy a Domino for a long time but I can’t justify the cost. When they come up on CL they are gone in a second. Nice job.
