I finally found the one guys…

23 oz vaughan waffle face with 17″ curved handle.
    Felt like Excalibur.

    I was Luke Skywalker today.

Anyone running Stilleto? I don’t frame anymore so I will probably never have the pleasure of using one.

When i first started framing back in the late 80’s I swung an Estwing. Got carpal tunnel. Vaughan’s are OK, but I only swing a titanium stiletto now.

Used to use a 20oz Vaughn. Got a free stiletto when they 1st came out in like 99 or something. Promo thing. I haven’t bought anything but stilettos since. Wait till acme or someone has a sale if you can. It’s usually $100 off with ANY hammer exchange. I buy one every year and give the used one to family. Favorite is the 14 oz tbone.

When I framed by hand I used a Vaughn 28 or 32 oz (40 year old memory there) meat-cleaver with an 18″ wood handle. One hit to set and the second to drive it home for 16 penny commons. That was only when we had no Senco framing guns available. Which was only when we had no electricity available quite yet.

22 oz smooth face 16″ straight claw Estwing is my choice for 30 years.

Only thing a hammer is used for is to pull a nail, move a stud over or the need to muscle something. I don’t need to spend $20,000. for a beater. When my hammer won’t pull a 4d finish nail, I’ll replace it. Like I said I still have the same Estwing for many years.

Everytime I pick up a stilleto I sure wish they worked for laying down floors. Just not enough force behind em for effective stapling.
