Hey I’m looking for an older 4 wheeler for ice fishing.
It needs to be kind of a low rider to fit under my enclosed snowmobile trailer.
What are the more dependable models from the early 2000’s
I would like to stay in the $1k range.
I’m thinking of using the wheeler when there’s no snow and the snowmobile when it gets deeper.
My trailer has a height limit of about 36” with a max height of 50” kind of tear drop shaped.

Not sure if you’ve looked at the market but for 1k you won’t find a 1990

I bought a used Kodiak this year after watching for something used that wasn’t beat on.

I’d agree with BC that $1000 isn’t going to get you something reliable.

If small and low profile is what you’re after, I’d watch for a used Honda Rancher 350 or even one of the Recon 250s. The Ranchers with the 400/420 are pretty snappy machines, but the cost goes up to get into the 400cc class.

The Kodiaks are nice too, but they seem to sit higher even in these smaller classes which may be an issue with your trailer situation

36″ tall and 1k is going to limit you to used Chinese youth atvs.

John on here has a Prarie 350 4×4 for sale. 2500. Try to get him down to 2k and that’ll be a great machine for a long time

I can find you a nice set of tires and rims for 1k.

I know 1k is down there but I don’t need pretty and I can usually make just about anything run.
But starting with something more reliable makes iunk a little easier to deal with.

The 1st year Honda Rancher(2000) the height spec is 44 inches. Not sure on the Honda Recon height but it was 2wd. The Honda 4tracs was the model before the Rancher was produced was lower but only by about 4 inches. Your height and budget limits are just not going to work.

To me it looks to me you will be looking for a Honda rancher or a Yamaha Kodiak or big bear.
