Foster locked up last night except for one small corner of open water. Maybe a week away from walkable ice if the cold hangs around. The best rule of thumb out there is to be sure someone else has gone out before you and then walk in their path, checking with a spud. Keep in mind that there are at least two huge springs in the lake and that they tend to migrate as far as where they will vent, so where they were last winter does not mean that they will be there this year and could be 50 feet away from the previous spot. With the snow on young ice its not going to be easy to see where the spring activity is if it isn’t keeping the water open.
