Does anyone know how the ice is on Foster Arends in Rochester? I brought my stuff hoping to take an older friend who doesn’t get to go fishing much out there but with this warm weather I’m not super confident. If anyone has any info I would really appreciate it, thanks!

last week there was about 6-7 inches, i would assume there would be some water on top but it should be OK. be cautious around the springs on the west side. as far as spots go,right off the dock has been a hot spot lately with trout coming in just under the ice. Good Luck! Be Safe!

I’ve got a similar report, seemed like 5-6 inches in the northeast corner last Friday.

I actually went out today. There was only 4 inches but I did catch one rainbow during the 45 minutes I was there. Was mostly scouting for tomorrow. Will be there most of the day tomorrow.

Yep! The ice is a little sketchy by shore so it’s best to duck under the dock onto the ice. I didn’t read your post till after I fished, but that’s where everyone was fishing when I got there so I played it safe and stayed in that area. The one I caught and ones I marked were coming off bottom, but I’ll try to pay more attention to right under the ice today. I’ll let you know how it goes, thanks for the info!

About 4 inches but it was good ice in front of the fishing pier. I went again today and got 2 but it wasn’t hot and heavy. The first one I caught was about 5 feet below the ice, the next was a little deeper. Both hit on a dead stick with a dorsal hooked minnow on a tungsten jig.
