I started off with my real name but people thought I was a fish and one day it just didn’t work. So I rejoined under the name I was calling my hobby tackle and rod making business.

My first fishing boat was a 14 ft Lund which had a late 70s/early 80s Evinrude 25HP pull-start that would bust your knuckles on the pull and had a charismatic rumbling idle – but once you got ‘er going she ran great. The boat had a working class fishing boat personality with a rumbling and sometimes stubborn engine so my name pays homage to that boat and is followed with my birthyear of “78.

Back in the day, I was evidently a little “off” amongst the fishing and boating crowd I ran with. They saddled me with the moniker “Reverend” due to my given name being Jim and my (perceived) behavioral resemblance to a certain “Reverend” Jim Ignatowski of “Taxi” fame. Added a birth year and a user name was born.

Of note: I used to use the shortened version “Reverend69”, but for some reason that raised a lot of eyebrows in the online dating sites. shock

When I was younger and we were cleaning fish, I always use to Thump fish on the head to dispatch them. My mom even bought me a little bat that was called the fishthumper ( she had gotten tired of me using almost anything laying around the garage ) . So all my fishing buddies started calling me the fishthumper.

I ran the FryDog stand at the MN state fair for years and sold the franchise after making $62 million in revenue. It was a good run…

My name on here came from loving the sunsets on the ocean. All those sparkles on the water, just love getting lost in them. Plus my nickname is sparkles cause apparently my eyes sparkle when I get mad, so I’ve been told. Lol

I’m the guy in the other boat that you give a friendly wave to and tells a corny joke as we drift past each other.
