Ford Backup camera

Here is a great tip for anyone with a ford vehicle with a backup camera. You can get the camera to stay on when you pull forwards. Go into settings on the dash screen. Push the vehicle tab which will bring up a camera settings tab. On the camera settings there is a delay option. You want this ON. Now when your camera comes on in reverse and you put it in drive, it will stay on until you go past 5 mph.

Use your mirrors and you won’t need a camera.

Oh really? I can get pretty darn close using my mirrors, but I can see the hitch ball a whole lot better with the backup camera.
Using the camera allows me to put the ball dead-on below the hitch.
Do I NEED the camera?, done without one, for many many years but it sure is nice having one.
    YMMV

Thanks for the back-up Huntindave. No pun intended. Yes I did mean when you’re trying to hitch up.

As a person that is either by myself or with the fw, that’s a great tip.

Hope it works on a GMC too!

As far as cameras go, I don’t know how many times I would jump out to see how close I was to the hitch, then inch back further. There were times I would get it hooked on the first try but more often then not, it was 4 or more tries.

Best invention since the boat plug.

Great tip and thanks for sharing.

Heard rumors back in the day, regarding Ram’s, that you could put your truck in reverse why cruising down the highway to activate your camera and this would allow a quick check of your load.

I’d never have the balls to see if that worked on my Tundra but would be interesting to know if true (if it was designed for that).

Good Lord, you should have known these guys would think you were serious. No way would they have for even a nano second thought it was a flippant off handed comment that millions of people would have made were it a actual face to face conversation. Shame on you, unless you have a little GIF thingy you can’t be funny on the internet, nobody will understand. coffee wink

I use this feature to triple check everything is hooked up and the jack is stowed and all that as I pull away from hooking up – wish you could just poke a button and turn it on indefinitely if you want to check something back there.
