Would it be possible to get some Information and some Pictures on your snowmobile setup for ice fishing. I’ve got a few quick looks at it in some of the Video’s but it would be nice to get some more details with some Pictures. Sorry if there was a past post with this Info. but I could not locate anything in the search. Just curious of all what Gear you have attached to that sled. and how you layout all of your equipment on it. Thanks.

BUMP – I know James is on the road but I wanted to bump this as I will also be in the market for a snowmobile next year too.

    Good question Fishthumper!

I believe it is a Polaris Widetrak with the medium Otter Monster Box setup with the auger and 5 gallon bucket holder accessories.

As soon as I get back home and caught back up I’ll do a detailed write-up on the sled and Otter storage solution.

    Bump….
James, were you able to post on this and I missed it or did those big walleye from last show strain your wrist and your working on it?

No hurry, just wondering if you have posted, I am taking my sled to the fab shop this spring and any ideas for improving functionality are appreciated.

Would appreciate some information also. I have already purchased the otter monster box and am currently looking for a Polaris Touring to mount it on. Looking forward to pics and information. Thanks James

I’ll get this out ASAP. The schedule right now is making even the smallest additional project all but impossible. But I won’t forget and will have this done before ice out. Thanks for the patience guys. I appreciate it.

I’m also interested in James’s snowmobile setup. During the March 2015 – Lake Erie Trip #2 episode there was quite a few sled closeups and it appeared as though there was two (2) Ram pedestal mounts to the GPS/graph unit and possibly a 12V power outlet mounted on a large plate between the dash panel and handlebars. I would like to know which manufacturer and model the graph unit is as well because and does it handle the sub-zero temps well. I currently have a touch screen and don’t like it much on cold days!
    Thanks,

I’m looking at a 2003 Polaris 600 Classic Touring. Is the suspension on these touring sleds enough to support a 40lb Otter Monsterbox with equipment and a 200lb individual? Guessing no. Not sure if Polaris widetrak is similar suspension. If not I may have to sell Otter Monsterbox and figure out something else.

I don’t know why it wouldn’t, especially as a 2-up. I weigh a lot more than you and the monster box, and I wouldn’t hesitate to have myself and another 200 lb passenger on a sled like that.

Gonehunting, did you find your sled and get that box mounted…if so what are your thoughts?
I found a medium otter monster and have a date with the fabrication shop next month. Not sure if I should go with steel, preference would be aluminum framing. Either way I would like to have the frame mounted via “pins” for easy removal in the rare event I would trail ride.
Any of you IDO’ers have any other suggestions for me prior to the cutting of the first piece of metal?

I have not as of yet. I am working with a gentleman from Iowa on a 2003 Polaris Touring Classic 600 that is in mint condition. We are just trying to work out a meeting date in the cities when he comes up to visit relatives. Please post pics once your’s is complete. I looking to make an auger mount that runs length wise with the sled also. Looking for any ideas.
