Ended up with 2 Cedar Rapids tickets. One going to the wedding, one on the way back. Both going 9 over. Won’t affect insurance, treated as parking ticket essentially.

    Nanny State Iowa.

That sucks. Hopefully none of the ghost towns have gotten them or I may get some tickets next weekend!

To me the whole issue hinges on the fact that a ticket needs to be issued to the driver of the violation, Not the auto owner.

Why are parking tickets allowed then? The owner of the car might not be the driver.

Good point. I do know that was part of the ruling why they were removed from Minneapolis

” Minneapolis installed red light cameras as part of an effort known as PhotoCop in 2007. The city deactivated the devices after the Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that the city’s camera ordinance ran afoul of state law. “

I always laugh when I see the “fake” camera signs in Mn… they flash your speed and then a blast of rapid flashing as the paparazzi camera goes off.

That’s just warning you to slow down. Not meant to be fake cameras. They are put out in areas with lots of speed issues and/or complaints. They also collect speed data.
