Ulterra linked with a 5 port hub to an 1198csi and a 998csi Lake Master chips ver #5
    LINK_CONTROLLER_V2150
    LINK_REMOTE_v2040
    998cSI_v7_670
    1198_v7_670.

The above was what I updated in Oct before my trip to the Lake of the Woods in the 3rd week. I believe there is a malfunction in the down load cause it will not recognize the follow feature. I’ve tried to reload the software and it will not except because it says it is already there. I’ve tried to load the previous software and it will not allow me (I’ve never been to “back load” the previous version) I hear of people saying to “go back to the previous version”. I wish someone would give me a how to tutorial because I can get my units to do so! There were following issues on the previous ver and this update was supposed to clear it up.

If I remember right a “sharing Linked system” when updated needs to be powered up w/ the TM but only allowing one Bird at a time to be powered doing the update. I must have done something out of sequence cause it did not work last fall on my last trip of my year before winter storage.

Looking to get this sorted out and get the pricey system back to working per design.

    Appreciate the help!

Check your units to make sure the update was successful.

I would disconnect the units from the network and update the units individually and then reconnect them before updating the ipilot link control head and remote software.

djshannon, thanks. I’m registered on that forum as well as this one,

I knew of ^^ first before the one you suggest. I think HB Greg and/or Wayne will get back to me this coming week.

J Anderson, I believe that you have to update the HB units individually. Both have to be running the same software ver #. BUT the TM and Sonar have to be hooked up to each other when updating the graft.

Did my HB’s say they are using the currant Version #, yes.
Do I know how to use the Follow the Couture Feature, yes.

I never have known how to reset my sonar units back to a previous software version.
I also don’t know what (presumably) I did to screw it up. This is not my first Humminbird Rodeo. I started with my first SI unit a 987Csi in March 2006. Then added the Terrova (I had the very first 101-lb 36v, 60″ shaft w/ US2 that Bass Pro ever sold after testing). and upgraded the 2 depth sounders to those mentioned above, then I added the Link, This past summer in 2015 I switched to the Ulterra Link system from my Terrova.

Can you confirm that the ipilot control head and remote have the correct update version?

I believe the ipilot control head and remote have specific number updates depending on the model and/or humminbird that you are using with it. This info is available.

    If those are all correct…

Does your unit say that ipilot is connect?

Are you able to engage spot lock (and other features) from the humminbird unit or will they only engage with just the remote?

To go Back to a previous version,
the previous version will have to be on the SD card.

I keep all previous versions on my hard drive. Have you tried it?

JAnderson, Yes to all, I have always been able to use basic function, just that the “link” features are a “NO” after the last update last fall.

    Yes,
If the old and new version are on the same SD card and it is in the drive,
when you power up the Humminbird, it will always solicit as to
do you want to use the nonloaded version to update.

What I would do is load the previous version
and a new copy of the new version
( as it sounds like you may have a corrupted new version )
Power up the Humminbird, load the old version.
When completed, shut down the Humminbird.
    Power it back up
load the newer noncorrupted version this time.

I had this issue in the past.
    When checking for corrupted version
I found the corrupted version had a smaller file size
but it acted as though all was normal as far as loading.
It did exhibit issues when using various features.

I have never had 2 versions on the SD card at one time.
Always quick format the SD card and copy, paste from my hard drive to the card.
Before powering down the HB I select “Return to defaults” (however I didn’t once back a many moons ago and seemed to have no effect on the upload at that time). Then with the HB off inserted the SD card into the HB and turn it on and follow the prompts.

    SO,
You are directing me to have the currently loaded version and the previous version on a formatted SD card at the same time?
Are you also telling me that with 2 versions on the card and inserted in the HB , upon powering it up it will allow me to choose which of the two I want to load?
You are also telling me it will allow me to load the previous one?
And finally are you saying that you have done this?

Do not miss understand I am great-full for your response, I just an trying to be clear on the process.

    Thanks, Denny O

You could use two SD cards if that would make you feel more comfortable
but I have found it unnecessary.
Yes I had to do this when the new version was corrupted for me.
It gives you a choice in that
it will ask if you want to load the SD card version
    that is non-current on
the Humminbird at the time of power up.
otherwise it will continue with the previously loaded version
that is currently on the Humminbird.

I have two versions on the SD card just in case of issues.
It is only slightly annoying to have to say not to load the non-current version each time.
It is greatly annoying to assume everything will be OK
and then not have follow the contour or something else have issues.
Or you could just carry two SD cards.

Thank you for your correspondence on my matter. I’m just unable to try your possible resolves until my baby comes back home to me this spring. The ole~girl is in her winters hibernation cave about 40 minutes away, so I may not be able to get to my resolve till I may get her home AND be able to get on the soft (and forever loving beautiful) water!

    Thanks my friend!
