I have no personal experience chasing Lakers, but I’ve read that white is a good color to start with. Woolly Buggers, Clousers, Deceivers. Sounds like fun, looking forward to your report
From what I’ve experienced in the BWCA in years past I would 2nd the opinion of trying white streamer/leach type patterns. We would commonly just use a white marabou jig. Around MN fishing opener we would also catch fish trolling cranks. Probably top 10′ of the water column. I would think for fly fishing the closer you can get to ice out the better. Not sure how things will pan out this year with the earlier ice out dates. I’m not schooled in the ways of sink tips & sinking lines but I would consider something that can get you somewhere in the 15′ depth range.
