A vaccine, like MMR, Polio, etc is a true vaccine in that it prevents you from getting whatever they are trying to protect you from.

semi related to this thread but can we all agree its asinine that RFK is asking the FDA to revoke approval of the polio vaccine?

Can we agree it was a lawyer that represented RFK that asked for this…and not RFK ?

I need to get the shingles vaccine

Same. Had chicken pox as a kid and can still vividly remember the itching/scratching. Still have little divot or two… lol. I hear shingles is horrible.

Never got it when I was younger. The FW always did because she worked closely with 3 and 4 year old children. Somewhere around 15 years ago I started getting flu shots. Never any side effects. My issue is if I get a head cold 90% of the time it turns into sinus infection. Have had 3 sinus surgeries over the years.
Since the age of 60, flu shot, shingles vac, pneumonia vac, all covid, and this year RSV.
I would probably of skipped the last 2 covid and RSV but the FW has been fighting cancer for 3.5 years and UW Doctors recommended them to help protect her. The only side effects I’ve ever had out of any of them is a sore arm.

They have a shot for poison ivy?
Dang, when I get it, it covers the entire body.

I think I would get that shot if they offered it.
It seams like if I get within 10’ I break out.
Once I got it so bad it was on my junk and in my eyes.
It was pushing a 100 that day. I climbed a tree to do a hang and hunt. The tree must have had it on it. Well I am guessing I went to the bathroom at some point and wiped the sweat from my eyes at another point. Wow did that suck.

It’s funny how the shots and viruses affect people differently. Growing up i caught about everything going around. Fast forward to kids and a wife, they recieved the flu shot and I faught it fer a few yrs, I got sick as he!! And missed a week of work then caved. Havnt missed a day of work for close to 20 since getting the flu shot, it never affected me at all getting the needle..

I get the flu shot every year and have for decades. 3 times I’ve been sick enough that I thought I’ve had the flu so I got tested, negative every time. Conclusion is to me it’s worth it.

This year I have to get the Shingles vaccine. Not looking forward to that has a lot of people say it really wipes you out for about 3 days. However…

I have an uncle who is very, ummm, politically active. He has strong views on vaccines and concluded that the shingles vaccine was Chinese mind control medicine.

He got shingles two years ago on his neck head and face. Guys I’m telling you it was absolutely gruesome. His face looked like he had been badly burned. Unfortunately that wasn’t the only place he got it. He also got it, err, in the rectal region. It probably wouldn’t have been as bad as it was except he got a nasty secondary infection down there.

The bottom (!) line is sign me up for that vaccine.

No, she has to be able to get up in a chair first. I’m sure there are lots of rides she can be on at Disney land.

Shingles is bad. I had it and it sucked. Since I turned 50 they told me I should get the vaccine. I got the first one and SOB did that thing hurt, felt like crap for days and a massive bruise for weeks. It doesn’t even keep you from getting it so I said screw it. Not getting the second recommended shot.

Do what you are comfortable with. The last place I would come for advice on any injection would be here. Your doctor is the best place to get that information.

Jimmy I would agree with you but here is a good test to know if your Dr is telling you the truth. Say you are relatively young, in good health and have no risk factors for COVID and you ask them if you should get the COVID shot. If they say yes after all we know now a new Dr is in order. I flat out asked mine and she just smiled and said no. There wasn’t a chance I was getting it I just wanted to know if I could trust her.

My doctor always asks and my answer is always no. I have never got the flu or had any type of symptom that was close to the flu. I got the covid set of shots but no more. Got a buddy that got really screwed up from them. Never got covid but the other 30 some people who work on my line got it. Never missed a day of work.

I listen to my Doctor. Do yes, I get flu shot every year.

They are the trained experts – not me or others outside the medical field.

I take every shot that’s offered to me as long as it’s in a glass and not a needle.

Most of them I’d do again, but at Christmas my Dad offered me a Pickle Vodka one. I love pickles, but it’s a hard pass in the future jester

No flu shots for anyone in our house. Wish I had known about a poison ivy shot when I was younger. Ended up in the hospital because of it one year.

Can we all agree it is asinine to state that he wants to get rid of the POLIO vaccine? He and his lawyer are advocating for ONE STRAIN of the many polio vaccines that is known to contain cancer causing agents. He does NOT SUPPORT getting rid of the polio vaccine. I listened to his interview with Megan Kelly – EXACTLY what he said.
    Disinformation……. huh – who’da thunk it?

Oh, an NO to the flu shot.
I and my youngest have had issues ever since getting the “prick” for the COVID scam. I will NEVER get another vaccine or preventative shot from the these fools again, especially when they tell me I have to or i’ll lose my job.

I’ve gotten the flu shot for 20+ years. I have some lung issues (asthma, 2nd-hand asbestos exposure-primary exposure killed my dad, consolidation) so I’ve gotten all the Covid vaccines (nearly killed my younger brother), pneumonia, RSV and shingles. When I talked to my doctor about the shingles vaccine I said I would check my baby book to see if I had chicken pox. He said 95+% of people my age were exposed to the chicken pox virus whether they got chicken pox or not. Prior to starting using a CPAP in 2016, I used to get a sinus infection that morphed into bronchitis about every 2 years. Since using the CPAP, I’ve only been sick once in 2017 with pneumonia (probably caused my lung consolidation). This was prior to getting the pneumonia vaccine.
