Free to good home. She can’t take the heat. 90 today.
I’m beginning to think I am catching the same one over and over. Always 3#14oz
Well the fire ants are out again. Michelle got tagged in the backyard Sunday and the same day I got tagged fishing the pond. I try and keep an eye out for them and moccasins, but sometimes you slip. I was fortunate I got distracted before getting stung, because I was going to sit down there. As bad as the stings are, the blisters a few days later are as, if not more, annoying. Its very unnerving to feel something (normally right before the sting) on your feet and look down to see ants swarming your feet.
I let one sting me once to see what they do. This is exactly what I saw.
They grab with their jaws so they can drive the stinger in. So far none of the dogs have been tagged. I have to pay particular attention to Tuffy because he’s the only one who enjoys sunbathing in the grass.
Testing out my DIY cap mount. It’s just a little guy, but I am happy to see a younger class of fish in here too. Who knows how long we will stay at our current residence.
I’ve figured out one “pattern”. Always fish around the catfish in the shallows. The active bass must seek them out when they want to feed because they stir up the bait fish and other food. Other than that they are tough to figure out by the weather. We have some steady rain and clouds through tomorrow, so I am thinking the fishing should be good.
Another one to add to the species list. Waiting for Aaron Bye to ID it. I assume it’s a redear…only because it has a redear :p
Slow day at veterans memorial bridge in Titusville. Yes, home of Daniel Tosh.
Caught this stork fishing by the dock at work. Pretty nice technique using the feet and the wing to corral them towards the beak.
No sturgeon knocking you over on shore?
You’re fishing the wrong spot.
Did you take lessons from him? Sorry, I was waiting for Brian to say it but obviously he’s trying to be the kinder/gentler BK.
But seriously, you seem to be doing quite well down there. Do you take requests? I would like to see some Peacock Bass pictures if you do. I think you may be on the northern end of their range though so not sure if you have them locally.
Cool video!
Yeah, I am too far north. One day maybe I’ll target them when I make it to south Florida, but its at least 4 hour drive before I am in their range.
Apparently, in 2010 a cold snap hit them had.
I’m enjoying it, but fishing will be spotty until I get a boat and Wade Boardman moves. Right now I am taking advantage of getting to know the state by checking things out. There are tons of parks and natural areas and you don’t have to travel far for some of them.
I feel like there are a lot of similarities between Florida and Mn/WI.
Now I am content with the neighborhood pond and some salt fishing here and there. It would be nice to befriend a fisherman down here.
I wish the site wouldn’t flop portrait pictures on their side!
This is in the works but it is a pig on resources. I have this working in staging but it still needs some improvements.

I heard the same thing. They are definitely on my bucket list. I would really like to go to South America to fish the huge ones but Florida will suffice until I win the lottery. They are a beautiful fish.
I’ll be going down there next spring so if you haven’t made it by then I will give you a report.
Got to swim at a private spring Sunday. That was pretty cool. Amazing how many minnows there were. I am not sure what they were. Some were definitely live bearers.
