Flip shelter dimensions

Looking at picking up an Eskimo Eskape 2600 or Otter Cabin. Judging from the collapsed dimensions listed on their websites it sounds like the Eskape 2600 would fit into a 5.5′ bed with tailgate closed no problem and the Cabin would be right on the margin.

My question is, how reliable are the collapsed dimensions that they list online?

Anyone with real world experience chime in and let me know which one you have and if it fits in your 5.5′ bed?

I also have a tonneau cover, so let me know if you do as well and if it fits under your cover. But I’m most concerned with length.

I can’t comment on the Otter, but the 2600 was designed to fit under the tonneau of a short bed box. If you have a low pro Tonneau that fits inside of the box rails, it might be tight. If it’s mounted on top of the rails, you are for sure good. The Eskimo also has the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in for a full day.

Not the Cabin, but my lodge is 76″ and I measured last night I am 80″.

I have a Otter Cabin that just slips under my cover but I have a 6.5′ bed. So I only can tell you it does fit under a soft cover on a Ford F150.

The cabin will fit in a short box with the tailgate closed. Seen it done in a Chevy, ford, and Ram. I’ve only seen it fit under a tonneau in the GMs

Yep, my Otter cabin fit in my short box with tailgate closed. I have a topper so I never paid attention to the height. I have no experience with the Eskimo.

It might fit in the RAM but the suspension will be on the stops.

Thanks for the input, all. Sounds like these shelters run pretty true to the sizes listed on their product sites.

My Eskimo 2600 fits in my ram 1500 short box with the tailgate closed.

Do the tires rub the wheel wells when it’s in there?

The cabin doesn’t fit under my Silverado tonneau cover but I have the kind that mounts on the inside of the bed rails, so an inch or so shorter than a standard tonneau cover.
