Hi there, I’m looking at purchases a clam x200 flip over style shelter. Of course my truck box is 5’5 and the shelter would have to be propped up on the end gate for it to close. Has this been an issue or deal breaker for some? Of course I’d like everything to be secure laying flat but I’d rather have a larger shelter instead of going with a smaller one just because of the box fit.

Any insight or pictures of guys setups would be awesome!

I run a clam Yukon XT thermal and just lay it flat with the tail gate open in my Chevy Colorado with a 5ft bed. I have 2 eye bolts. One on each side of the sled secured with straps to the rear tie down points to keep them from sliding forward. For extra measure, I run a ratchet strap across the front tie down points. I can fit most of the gear inside of the sled with no issues driving to the lake.

I’d also add that the cover is well with the price if it’s not already included. Otherwise the material on the house, especially the skirting will flap constantly as you drive leading to thinning and fraying. Know this from experience.
