Flexzilla garden hose. Is it any good.

Okay now that it’s late spring I’ve discovered that I’ve got about 150 ft of garden hose that’s 20 plus years old and it’s cracking all over. It’s all so so weather aged that it’s stiff and inflexible. Replacement time.

The best garden hose I’ve ever had is that red rubber commercial duty stuff. But it’s really heavy. I have Flexzilla air hoses in my shop and I really like them. I especially like how they aren’t stiff and hard to get on the horse reel like PVC hose is.

But reading reviews of the garden hose it seems like a lot of people had problems a few years ago with this stuff cracking or splitting? Before I buy a whole bunch of the stuff does anybody have it and is it any good? Worth the money you’re just stick to higher grade green stuff?

I have the 100’ on a hose reel for the past 3 years. Hose reel is out of the sun, but I haven’t had any issues. I like it well enough I purchased another 50’ hose this spring to add to it.

We have 100ft in the front of the house and 100ft in back. Have had them for 3-4 years with no issues. I would buy them again if needed. Also have it on the compressor in the back garage.

They do get dirty quick (one of mine has some sticky residue on it I can’t seem to get rid of) but other than that I have no complaints. I’ve got probably 400′ worth in various lengths. I do being them in in the fall so that they never have water freeze in them, not sure how much that really helps longevity.

We use flexzilla and good year continental at work. They both take abuse and last. Cutting concrete I run 100 to 400 foot of house daily, never in nice conditions. Flexzilla green turns to dirt brown fast. Continental stay black and don’t fade.

These are the best bang for the buck and last. I prefer 2 50ft hose over 1 100ft.
And if you over under wrap them you can walk them out with zero kinking

20-25 years ago bought some Sears round black rubber hoses. Still use them. Gotta be round. The multi-sided ones kink easy. I’m still thinking of a 50 foot flex hose to use under the deck and washing off mower, tiller, Polar cart, etc.

Have 100′ in the backyard and 50′ in the front yard of flexzilla for probably close to 10 years, been very happy with it.

Being on a reel does it get “compressed” in the reel when reeled up? Some hoses do and the diameter is reduced so you don’t get full flow if you don’t unreel the whole hose. In the market due to this issue.

Continental don’t get compressed. Flexzilla will

Thanks for the feedback. I would agree that the Flexzilla air hose definitely gets grungy very quickly. I guess it’s probably more a case of the color shows dirt more readily than a dark color, but it does look bad.

Is that Continental hose as flexible as the Flexzilla? I hate stiff plastic hoses because they put so much tension on connectors like the inlet to pressure washers. And of course if it doesn’t flex it kinks.

Hard to know what to do here.

It’s a rubber hose. Has about the perfect balance of flex and function. It’s not a plastic hose so it’s not prone to kinks and won’t have crap memory. Do your self a favor and learn the over under wrap and lots of hoses will work. These are just my favorite for home and work. Flexzillas are more prone to over stretching and bulging under pressure then these. But they both are great hose for the shop and home.

Have the black rubber hoses from menards and have had them for yrs. Bought my kids the newer versions and they seem just as good. Pretty simple, straightforward rubber hose that never gets brittle, goes nice on a reel or a u type post holder. Drain all mine and hook the ends into the individual hose and hang them outside all winter. They stay outside 24/7/365. Never had an issue with any of them, or the male or female ends. Been great hoses and use them a ton. They don’t get dirty or hard and brittle like the plastic crap hose. They stay flexible and are easy to manage.

Anyone use an expandable hose they like. Again not for main use out in the yard but for hosing stuff off. Home Service Plus have these in their kit to wash off air conditioners condensers.

My flexzilla doesn’t collapse on the reel. I have shut offs and quick couplings on my hose to quick attach to soaker hoses and a hose running to the garden and for a spray nozzle. The hose doesn’t collapse on the reel but there is usually some water pressure in the hose.

Man I’ve been buying these blue rubber ones from fleet farm and they’re so much better than any of the other garbage I’ve had. Flexzilla is nice but kinda overpriced I have a short one in the basement for hosing down Coolers

Awesome video. I will be going Aqua Joe or Zero G for my next purchase. Just looking for standard lawn and garden use so kinking is my #1 problem. They’re both among the lightest and they have pressure washing extension upside, as well. Will never buy the generic ACE brand again, that’s all I know.

Don’t ever buy hard plastic hose. They kink and they crack, that’s the only guarantee

Back when I did carwash maintenance a few of the washes I visited had the orange hoses I posted earlier. They use them daily to clean up every night and other various uses. Dragged across the usual sharp edges, rough concrete, bolts sticking out, driven over, etc. Mostly used by kids with barely a braincell to do their job. Never saw an issue with or heavily damaged one. Just something to keep in mind if you ever want a new hose to try out. And they are 3/4″ instead of the usual 1/2 or 5/8 and on those long runs those larger diameters really help.

I had a flexzilla sticky hose and I contacted them. Had to fill out form online and then they have you cut the ends of the hose and send them a picture couple days later they sent a brand new hose.

I’m confused. What’s the sticky substance from?

I’m sick of running literally 500’ of accumulated junk hoses to soakers, tree plantings, sprinklers, etc and want to start switching over. I also want to switch to quick connectors. Do most of the nicer hoses come with them?

no idea what the sticky stuff is from but Flexzilla got back to me in less than an hour and is replacing it for free… I purchased separate quick connectors and in-line shutoff valves on amazon so all my hoses/attachments are interchangeable with each other…

I don’t have a Flexzilla water hose but I do have Flexzilla air hoses for my air compressors and they’ve been great. About a year ago I bought the GG and it has been the nicest/best water hose I’ve ever owned.
