We need a cover for the boat. Something that covers the motor as well. I don’t want to pay custom cover prices for this boat. Motor is new so I want a cover for it from the elements.

Boat is a 14’flat bottom 20 hp mercury.

I want it too keep the elements out and not have to babysit it much.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

The picture I am posting is of my boat while in the process of restoration, but it will give you the idea of the cover I use on my restored boat.

The cover is actually a $79 cheep cover off of ebay. But the secret is the poles and guy ropes that support the cheap cover. The ropes rap around the boat and are tied to the trailer.

Takes time to put on but works great.

2 weeks back fleet farm was having a large clearance on their boat tarps. Got a $160 for $90 for mine. Worth looking into.

Here’s what FF had that looks to fit our flat bottom boat? I guess I’ll give it a try and see. Nothing else I’ll take it back. Thanks.

Thanks for the idea. The cover I purchased doesn’t come with poles, I’ll need to make something work like you did.

This is what I did on my old aluminum boat. 3 fiberglass rods I put small holders on each side of my boat they fit in to and then bent to a arc. Keeps the cover up so you dont get build up and is simple

Fiberglass bows are the way to go.Whatever cover you get, make sure it has a high UV resistance. The one I got a few years ago literally crumbled after about 6 months.

I’m sure you can find them at menards just ask. Make sure you measure the width of your boat in 3 or 4 spots where u want them and cut them 6 to 8 inches longer to get the bend

PVC tubes. Cut to size. No need for glue. Easy set up and take down. Holds up an OTC cover pretty well.
