The Turtle-Flambeau Flowage Association will hold its 17th annual Pig & Corn Roast on Saturday, August 11th with food service starting at 4:00 PM until it’s gone, so get there early for the “wings and drum sticks.” This event will be held at the Gateway Lodge & Resort located between Mercer and Butternut on the north end of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage off of Highway FF at N4695 Popko Circle West. The menu includes pork that is slow roasted on site along with all the fixings in addition to farm fresh sweet corn and scrumptious homemade desserts. Live music will be provided by Dave Sky. Raffles with prizes donated by local businesses will be held throughout the afternoon and evening, so bring your lucky rabbit’s foot. Dancing, singing and laughter are guaranteed. For more information contact the Gateway Lodge at 715-476-7878

Proceeds of this event go to the promotion and enhancement of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, Wiscosin’s Senic Wilderness Waters Area. Please come support the TFFA.

With the cooler temps, the walleye bite is staring to change to fathead minnows, but 1/2 a crawler on an 1/8 oz. jig is also producing fish on the humps in 10-12 fow.

Sorry for not posting for a while. The water level in the TFF is now 4.5 feet below full pool, so navigation is very interesting; however, fishing for walleyes and musky is quite hot right now. Our cabin guest last week were a father/daughter team and reported boating 100 walletes in a day!!!!

Jig and minnow is the bait of choice fishing in 10-15 fow on the sharp bends of the old river channels.

Muskys are a mixed bag with top water baits best over the dieing weeds (duh!) , but also 20 fow depths have been producing including a 48″ fish in the Trude Lake area on Saturday to win the tournament hosted at Dear Lodge.

Leaves are now past peak and falling making for some great grouse hunting for those looking for a “blast and cast” weekend adventure.
