FL8 Gave UP, 35 years old

My FL8 won’t light up. I bought it when I go home from the Army in 96. I remember my dad telling me what a waste of money it was to spend $99 on something like that back then…

It seems that fishfinders are going the way of ammo, pretty much everyone is sold out….

Likely just needs new brushes, a fairly common issue.

I would check into it.It might not cost as much as you think to go through it.

Try calling Fish-Lectronics in Columbia Heights MN on Hwy 48. If they’re still in business they should be able to fix it or refer you to someone.

If you can send it in to them. I agree that it’s more than likely the brushes. I sent my FL-8 in a couple years ago that was pushing 30 years old. 100 bucks plus shipping and it was good as new. I just gave it to my nephew so he had a reliable flasher. It’ll probably last another 30 years. Otherwise your other option is spend big money on a new unit.

Or upgrade, Todays flashers are so much better then the old FL8’s.

Sounds like you got a lemon. A vex should get you 50 years minimum…

This was basically my experience too. A little less money, but my 30 year old FL-8 came back in 3 days running like new! Definitely worth sending it in, they’ll fix you up.
