fl18 to lx5i?

Im considering buying an lx5i and currently have an fl18. Would I be happy with the change? It’s seems like most everything about the lx5 would be better. One of my concerns is about fishing less than 10ft. With the 18 I usually have to switch over to low power mode, so my lure doesn’t show up as a huge mark. The lx5 doesn’t have a low power mode, so I’m wondering how it will work without that.

The lx5 doesn’t need low power mode, the gain knob allows you to completely dial out your lures return if desired. I wouldn’t hesitate picking one up.

Im loving my 5i so far, I actually had the LX7 but my girlfriend kinda just claimed it as hers so I found myself in the market for another 7 but i got a smokin deal on a 5i at St Paul and I’m glad I did. Gain adjustments are all you need and the SFL (super fine line) helps a lot as well

I ended up making a big jump to An lx7 after I found one on sale for $579. It showed up today and I got to fish for a few hours tonight. I couldn’t be happier. Being able to tell a fish from the bottom and being able to tell when they have gotten my minnow head is amazing.

I’m still trying to figure out some options like how to move the graphs and whatnot around and how to put the gauges on the bottom. I’ll have to play with it some more before I go fishing tomorrow.

Using my 5i in 6 feet of water all season and couldn’t be happier. I think you will be happy as well.
