Fitting a Lund Fisherman 1700 in standard garage door

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows how high a 2001 Fisherman 1700 would sit off the ground while on a bunk trailer? I have a standard height garage door, the opening is 6’8”. I found this boat online and am very interested but now my concern is fitting it through the door as far as height goes. Length I should have more than enough room. It has the full walk through windshield. If anyone has any input on height or how to fit one in a garage I would sure appreciate it. Thank you

I used to have one (2004) and it fit in a standard door. It was close but it made it through. My Ranger Reata also fits so I think you’re ok. Can the seller get you a quick measurement?

The talon was a different issue….almost knocked that smooth off the boat backing it in once.

Worse case is you let the air out of the tires and roll it in!

7’or 8′ would be normal. 6’8″ is not.

A standard 7′ height overhead door would net you an opening of between 6′-11 1/2″ and 6 ‘ 10-1/4″ MINUS the actual vinyl weather strip at it’s maximum opening height.

I went through this last fall and eventually SBC brought my model down for an actual test in my garage.
If a 1910 fits in a 7 ft door, I assume you are fine on that model but here are a few things to check.
    – Any molding around the door making it smaller than the actual door
    – does the door actually go all the way up?
    – Any pitch to the drive way/slab as that can make a difference also.
    – pitch your vehicle hitch might have that is different than level on the trailer (I see this in non-trucks)

I have the same boat and it fits under my 7 foot overhead door. I just have to remember to lower the motor so it doesn’t hit the back wall.

I have a 7′ door also but the wood trim is what is determining my max height which is approx. 6′ 10″ so the clearance will vary from garage to garage.

I am not sure how common that this boat is with a bunk trailer and the trailer surely would impact this dimension. The motor could be the highest portion of the rig. And this height will vary depending on the tilt position of the motor as you back it in.

I suggest to inquire with the seller. Better yet go look at the rig yourself. Even if you do not buy it it gives additional knowledge for your future purchase.

The bunk will help the height, had the same issue but my Voyager but fits by a few inches. You need the measurements from the seller….

+1 on the bunk trailer being lower…and another reason behind a long list of others as to why I won’t ever own a roller trailer again. Not only does the lower height make it easier to fit in a standard garage, but getting in and out of the boat along with loading gear is that much easier. Every inch counts the older I get.

I have this boat and a roller trailer and my JUST makes it through my door. Again, the motor is the issue. Once in my garage I have hit my head on the opener when inside working on projects. DUH!!!

I have this boat as well on a bunk trailer with a 7′ door and it isn’t a problem. That said, I’ve made the mistake of leaving my new tower rod holders installed after playing with the set up in the garage… won’t be doing that again )

My 2010 1850 Tyee/175 Verado fits in my 7 foot door and my 2000 1700 ProSport/90 Honda did too. You should be fine, but a quick measurement by the owner will assure you it’s all good.
Motor needs to be trimmed all the way down.

Sorry for the off topic, but what’s with a 7’ oh door??

In all my years of building homes I’ve never put less than a 8’ door unless it’s a lawnmower door to the back yard

Correct the rough opening of a 7′ door is 7′ from garage floor before front cut down of concrete so even after the vinyl weather stripping is on it should still net a 7′ opening. If your door has less then a 7′ opening your contractor did not factor the correct header height. And yes 7′ doors are very common.

Out of the 6 homes on my block, I am the only one with an 8 foot door. The rest are all 7 foot. These homes were new in the late 1970’s

My home was built in 2012 and has a 7 foot door as well. Wish I had an 8 footer. Most of the houses I see now have 7 foot doors standard.

To the OP question I have a 2013 1775 Pro V and I was tight with a 7′ door, I had to make sure that I had the outboard trimmed all the way down and I cleared the windshield by about an inch or two at most.

I have an early 90’s vintage home and had 7′ garage doors until I raised the headers a couple of years ago when I re-sided the house and I also built a detached garage in my backyard last summer and put a 16’x8′ in right away. Much nicer with the 8′ door as I can back the boat in 3/4 of the way and then trim the motor down, get wheel stops set, etc…
