I see Lowrance released the FishReveal update. Just installed it on my Elite 7 Ti and even though it is just the demo it looks pretty cool. Excited to get it out on the water and try it out.

Since I read the pictures don’t post sideways anymore I figured I’d give it a shot.

I installed it last night too, Gen3 model for me. this is a real nice update. Aside from the fishreveal feature there is dock to dock navigation that is improved too for Navionics. I will be interested to check that out. I would never 100% trust anything like that, but it will be cool to see it work.

Just installed it. Played with it in demo mode. Great feature, big improvement over the regular down scan. Hope Lowrance keeps supporting the HDS GEN3. Now that they have the Crabon I can see them doing away with the HDS, let’s hope not.

This will be the last year for support for the Gen3’s I am sure. That is typically how they do it, 2 generations, current and previous. These updates do not work with Gen2 models of which I have 2 units.
Kind of a bummer, but you can get some amazing deals on Gen3 units right now and next year I am sure the 1st gen carbon units will be cheap. Its the way it goes I guess with technology.

So true, I’ll be 69 soon so mine should make it as long as I plan to keep the boat. Hope to be running it when I’m 75.

I downloaded to a microSD and my Elite 7-TI seemed to perform the update, as there is now an auto-pilot function on my screen. However, when I go into Sonar, I don’t see the FishReveal tab that the videos show, nor do I see any new options under the sonar type. Is there something I need to do to activate that? Using with a Navionics chart card if that makes a difference.

It only works on DownScan, put your unit in DownScan. Hit menu, scroll down to Advanced and click FishReveal. That will activate it. Then go back to first DownScan menu and click FishReveal options to ajust sensitivity, color line and Platette.

Wonder how this is going to work on the river?

I check my routes each year and make adjustments and then check each evening to ensure nothing has changed. I guess a moving nav marking is a moving nav marker and will have to be mindful either way.

Yeah, it certainly isn’t something I would 100% trust especially up here in the North Country where many markers are removed in winter months, etc.

I have the totalscan transducer and don’t see the option to switch to pure downscan. Any screenshots by chance?

Not familiar with the Elite, do you have structure scan? If so go to your DownScan screen not sonar screen. Once there click the menu and click advanced to find FishReveal.

I totalscan combines chirp/downscan/sidescan all in one transducer. I tried going into the menus but no luck. I’m also sitting on a concrete pad so I’ll try to get out this weekend and see if being on the water makes a difference.

Hit the pages button to bring up the main menu screen, then press Structure Scan to bring up Structure Scan screen. From menu select downscan, open menu for DownScan and click on Advanced, that will open the menu to find FishReveal. Click FishReveal and go back to the first menu. Go down to FishReveal options and click on that to make any changes in sensitivity, color line or palette.

    Put it in simulator mode.

I installed the update and used it most of yesterday on pool 4 wasn’t to impressed, they have a line a feed back or something right above bottom. I ended up turning the fish reveal off and not using it. It was eAsier to see what was down there. For a person New to down scan and not knowing what fish looked like I see where it could be helpful but I wasn’t a fan.

Did you try adjusting the fish reveal sensitivity at all? All fish reveal is doing is enhancing the stronger returns and weakening the weaker ones and the strong ones get a more prominent color. Which makes the screen pop a bit more, but I agree for someone who is used to downscan it doesn’t matter you can pick out larger fish easily anyway.

Was out on Pool 4 last week and I was impressed with the Fish Reveal…is it necessary? No. But it did make it easier for me to see fish when just glancing and the Down Scan image. I thought it was kinda cool. It really was the highlight of my day cause I didn’t catch a damn thing.
