I have done stroganoff with pheasant and its amazing. I would imagine venison would be great too.

We just made up a big batch of pheasant alfredo and I now have a new favorite

I take boneless medallions (Chops)and quickly saute’ to get some of the juices out of the meat using a few tablespoons of garlic butter. Take the meat out when it hits medium rare. Take come corn starch and mix with milk until the consistency thickens up, and add to the pan, stirring it in to the butter..whisking as it thickens. As you do that, use red wine to get the right consistency. Too thick? More wine. Too thin? More cornstarch and milk. Once you have the right consistency, add the meat back in, and add stew vegetables and slowly cook until the veggies are done! It WILL be your next favorite way to make venny stroganoff!

Sauté mushrooms and onions in olive oil with the venison. Salt and pepper to taste.

Add one can of cream of mushroom, cream of chicken and a medium container of sour cream. Stir and let simmer while you cook egg noodles.

Venison stroganoff is one of our favorite ways to utilze our deer meat. We also use the meat to make fajitas, chili, and tacos. Of course regular marinated chops with mushrooms is hard to beat in my book. We like to marinate the meat in your preference of flavorings, and then often brown with a touch of beef stock to reduce the wild flavor. Thank goodness both my wife and 14 year old GIRL…….LIKE VENISON!! Because a guy CAN get sick of Walleyes and Grouse!

Favorite way to eat it!!! FW does an excellent job, therefore I am not able to share her recipe as I will have to ask her first. Served over noodles, wild rice, bread/butter, all very good!!!

One variation I do is with is venison roasts. I de-bone the hind quarters and then segment each part of the rump. I season with a steak rub and brown in a pan with olive oil. Drop it in the crock pot with cheap beer and let it slow cook all day. It nearly melts aparts and shreds up really good.

I normally make a stroganoff that i have a hard time calling stroganoff but everyone likes it. I use one package of venison burger browned
    one onion soup mix packet
    one hidden valley ranch packet
    one 16oz sour cream
simmer tell noodles are done then serve
