I normally would never plant this early, but we’ve sold our house and need to be out by June 20, so I figured I would try to get a few early crops before then. My radishes are looking good, and I have some lettuce just starting to sprout. If they don’t work out, no biggie, but I thought it’d be fun to try.

Is that all you planted? We are looking for quick germination to harvest veggies and fruits too. So far I was thinking radishes and herbs. I am also considering strawberries. Any other people can throw out there would be appreciated.

Yes. I normally do tomatoes, peppers, green beans, carrots, onions, etc, but that won’t happen this year.

The new owner will probably require that you take them out before he moves in!

Lettuce, peas, beets, green onions mixed in to keep the rabbits and deer away, and use floating row covers to boost the soil temperature for quicker germination and growth, and to protect from any frost. I have been eating fresh lettuce for a week now and the radishes are likely to be ready to start eating later this week! Floating row covers work great to force asparagus to appear sooner as well- I have harvested 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks from the small patch I have.

You joke, but the purchase agreement states that all garden bulbs, plants, shrubs, and trees must remain. Of course, it states nothing about hitting them with Round-Up.
