So what type of suckers are the best smoked? Going to try to get a few this weekend and smoke them on the grill. Are there any to avoid?

Eaten a lot of whites. No experience with any other though.

I got a golden for my neighbor couple weeks ago, will be my first time for a smoked sucker, this is a good reminder to bug him about it kind of anxious to try it out. Let ya know.

Personally I’ve only had smoked whites. Deee-licious! I would think Redhorse wouldn’t be bad IMO. Of course nothing compares to salmon or even carp.

Great post. Usually if we catch one it ends up as garden fertilizer. May have to ask the wife if we can smoke it. I’m sure I know the answer to that already!

Years ago my folks used to bring em back, and we had an old river rat barrel smoker than really made some yummy smoked fish and meat.
Those smoked bunnies in hunting season were delish too. We used applewood and even corn cobs worked good if wood was scarce.
