meat mixer question

    What does everyone use for a meat mixer for ground meat when adding spices and jerky mix powder? Just have to believe there is a better way than spending $100+ for a stainless steel mixer.I have been kneading bare handed but looking to find an easier way. Do old electric mixers work maybe?

    I do it my hand. If anyone wants the mixer I have make an offer. I’m not happy with it.

    Yup, I use the two mixers attached to the end of my arms and a big bowl, maybe not the fastest (and they get dang cold with chilled meat), but the price was right.

    My parents bought a ‘tub’ mixer with a hand crank, haven’t borrowed it to see if I like it better yet though.

    I really like my mixer, with the exception of cleanup. Kind of a pain, especially when you have to clean up multiple nights in a row.

    Would the dough hook or paddle work very well on a Kitchen Aid mixer?

    Let me know if it works please, I am leaning towards trying plain old mixer on low speed with regular beaters if nothing else.

    I use my hands I’ve been looking at mixers and for me I can’t justify the $$ on the ones I have liked or wanted. I will say the dough hook does work on a regular mixer, key is to have a big enough mixer so you don’t wear out the motor in it on 1 batch.

    Get a plastic drop cloth and cover your table top with it and dig in. I use a card table in the garage and can do about 75 pounds at a time if I want to. I generally batch my sausage making in 10 or 25 pound batches and its easy to work with those amounts by hand.
