I was pulling a few weeds in one corner of the garden tonight and thought I saw some red where red wasn’t supposed to be yet and took a closer look. I had three tomatoes ripe. There are maybe four or five more on the same stem that will be ready in a day or two. A nice salad tomorrow will get dressed with a few fresh slices.

I was worried about the tomatos early on because they wouldn’t grow…too cool. Now they are over 5 feet tall and threatening to haul down the cages. I have a super 100 cherry tomato that is about 6 feet tall. The wet spring really did the garden plants good I guess, because since we’ve had the heat things have gone up like rockets.

Now if the cukes would begin with some slicers. They are about a week out yet, but the tomatos will keep me happy until then.

I have no red ones yet, but they are doing well. Here’s my grape tomato plant, and I’m 6’2″, for reference. Jalapenos are doing well, as is the cayenne I planted.

Those are chunky jalepenos. Just right for fire starting. lol

Buy yourself a pineapple and remove the shin and bottom knot along with the top. Cut from top to bottom on opposing sides so you end up with a pair of slabs. Chop up one of those jalepenos and mix into some brown sugar and seasoned salt or pork rub….enough to coat the pineapple slices/sides while they cook on your grill. 10 minues per side. Serve with burgers or pork chops or ribs….wash down with a cold one.

I’m not a fan of green peppers but hot peppers are great.

Take those Halapeno’s cut them in half and take out the guts, cut a chunck of cheddar and put it in your halapeno boat, wrap it in bacon, hold it together with a toothpick and bake in the oven at 350 until bacon is done. 10-15 minutes YUMMO

I laid 4 more nice red tomatos on the counter this morning. I picked another 5 quarts of raspberries too….in the rain. Felt good even. Berries are about ready to give up the ghost now and I pulled the netting off this morning. It will now go on the grapes….which are loaded.

Tom your post about rasberries made me hungry for some, these are store bought(driscolls) and am sure it’s not as delish as your homegrown.

Darn girl, I don’t want to stand in the kitchen much during the summer if I don’t have to but that picture sure looks as though the goodies can be replicated.

I’m thinking ginger snap crumb crust, a light, whipped, lemon cream-cheese filling topped with whole raspberries smuthered in a raspberry junket.
