Got a quart jar of honey from a in law for Christmas. Nice looking stuff from a farm up north somewhere. Problem is we are not big honey eaters at our house and not even sure of what all we can do with it. Think about the only way I have ever eaten it is on toast or a english muffin. You guys got any other ideas what I can do with this jar of honey so it doesnt go to waste?

    Thanks.

You can use it to sweeten recipes. Honey glazed chicken wings?

I always put honey on my ribs for the slow cook. If you like honey/barbecue, you’ll want to use your honey.

Mmmmmm Sweet Baby Rays and Honey, little brown sugar, some Creole seasoning, a little onion, Sea Salt…dang I’m hungry all of a sudden.

    Healthy alternative to sugar!

Like stated above anything that you make can be substituted with honey instead of sugar. My family used to raise honey bees and we had no allergy problems when we ate local honey but when my brother moved to college his asma got worse.

I’m not a big honey guy either but my wife loves using it in her tea.

Mix it 50/50 with mustard. Good dip for any chicken or pork recipe.

I use a lot of honey on Cheerios. Sometimes put it in my coffee.

I thought I was the only one that did that Jon?

All good suggestions so far. To bake with it I believe the ratio is 3/4 cup honey = 1 cup sugar but you can look it up. Honey also has an indefinite shelf life, so don’t toss it even if it looks bad. If at any point it does get some scum/mold on top, just warm it up, skim the bad stuff, cool it down and put it back in a jar.

Local honey is very good for you. It has natural stuff in it that helps keep you healthy. Much better than any imported honey that can have more corn syrup than real honey. Always buy local produced 100% real honey.

I used to keep about 400 colonies of bees in SW IA, we learned a lot of uses for it.
Makes a great hot mix for the popcorn balls, yummy for sure. I don’t remember the receipe though.

Honey is good to enhance flavor of many dishes for sure.

I go though alot of honey in a year. I also use it on different types of rubs for meat plus right before I eat ,I like to put it in chili, and any tomato-pasta dish. I think it tones acid down on the dishs.

Mix with chunky peanut butter and some softened butter. Best bread spread ever!
    Excellent in pudgy pies too!

I get a gallon about every year from a buddy who keeps bees next to the orchard. I have a tough time with a gallon, so I will put in 1/2 pint mason jars and give some away.

I make my BBQ Swause with it.
I end up with about 17 quarts after simmering it. Honey is not a main item in the recipe, I use less than a gallon. I try to buy it from a local bee keeper and not from the grocery stores.
