Tom I was curious because of the hot/sweet mixture. Turns out it’s sweet/not so hot but Jalapeno flavor. I can’t say it has a zing, but more of a taste bud “wake up” after the sweetness of the Raspberry.

I’m just wondering, if a person eats 3/4 of a jar before he can pull away, what should he expect in the morning? I have a meeting tomorrow and it’s the only reason I stopped!

if you hadn’t eaten all off it there’d be a fine dip if you just poured over a softened cream cheese brick and enjoyed with some crackers

In the morning you should make yourself and ice cream cone.
Just don’t lick it after application.

Brian….Ma wanted some of this jelly to sell in the shop and made me pull back some on the peppers. Normally this would be about as zippy as the color, if you know what I mean. I like things with heat. That suggestion to simply pour the jelly over a brick of cream cheese is how Ma likes it….smeared on a nice cracker. After a half a jar you’ll be ok unless your innards are on the light-weight side of things.

Now the relish…..its got some sweet too. BUT, you won’t be indulging in a half a jar of that without some issues down the road a day or two. The heat will be immediate. I mix a small spoonful in my ketchup for a burger or dog.

I may be doing up another batch of the raspberry yet this fall and its not going to be done ala Ma. I like the hot jellies with character. Sweat…sweet….heat = character. Sorry if this batch was a let down. Hey….you could always stir a spoonful of the relish in there and that’d take care of anything you think is lacking.

    Enjoy Brian!

Let down? No way! Ma has it just right for the masses to buy! I like heat too, but not all the time.

I’ll have to prepare myself for the relish…maybe Friday.

Sounds good. I just canned a batch of pepper relish tonight. I have a bunch of leftover jalep’s. If you get time post the recipe…I would like to try it.
