Not sure I’ll get any responses but my son has spring break next week and if I can get him on some open water that’d be amazing.

I see some posts from people fishing open water. We’re in Andover, what Pool and landing would be more convenient for us if we went? I’m not looking for your spots…just your accesses..lol.

Is the St Croix in Taylor Falls accessible?

    I’ve got a 17ft boat with 120hp.

Any help is appreciated to make our spring break easier. We’d be fishing during the week so wouldn’t impact the weekend access.

I would think most are fishing around the dam and launching at Everts. Or the landing by 494. The river rats will answer.

Good chance that the St Croix will still be iced up. I think you’ll have a chance at floating your boat and better chance at a fish (assuming your looking for the wily walleye at the 494 ramp although it’s catch and release fishing only.

The WI Back Channel ramp (called the Hager City ramp on google) near Red Wing will put fish in your boat that you can take home if you like. There is a closing dam there so trim up your motor and stay to the right going up stream. At $5. it’s half the price of the other pay ramp.

Check the regs as well, St Croix will be closed for sport fish until early May. Pool 2 is open for walleye, sauger, bass, as catch and release but closed for pike entirely.
