That’s really surprising. You seem pretty normal.

True story. KWP and I were out on Pool 2 one day in the fall a couple of years ago. It was blowing about 15-20 from the northwest and this guy in a red Lund comes blasting up from the south and he starts to work the riprap on the west bank for smallmouth.

No here’s the klinker. He starts to work it with freaking a FLY ROD! We were both like, WTF? Call the DNR, we got a guy out here who’s lost his mind and for once it’s not BrianK. Wakes are bouncing him around, he’s casting into a 15 mph headwind standing up. He was throwing a pretty good line for that much wind, btw, but still we thought we had a guy here whose cheese had slipped off his cracker.

So this guy finally works his way even with us and on the side of his boat in big letters its says, “ROOTSKI”.

    OK, that splains it then.

Grouse, great story! I love it! Yeah, my Dad will cast all day long – in tornado-like winds, no less! I don’t know how he does it. Slight wind and I get tense and angry with myself and end up casting like crap. He’s amazing. With the new website features here, I think we can tag him by typing @Rootski. I hope that does something cool or I’m going to look foolish.

Grouse…you left out the part where I actually managed to catch a couple of fish before I blew off the rip rap. I remember that day. The highlight of my day was when I didn’t hook the back of my head.

Next time motor over so I can say hello to you guys.

Well, we didn’t notice you catching those fish, Rootski. We must have been looking the other way for that part ;-).

We thought about going over, but you know, approaching a guy throwing a fly line in a 15 MPH wind can get a little tricky…

Joel Nelson – Line Crosser. After watching him and James fish together after this last week…..even when we were trolling!

I’ll take the fall and have to say I could be the Overesti-Baiter. I’ve been known to have some real hairbrained schemes…..
