The walleye bite has been very hit and miss. With the interesting ice conditions we are having this year it has been tough to get to certain areas we would like to fish on Gull but we are going where we can. Ice on Gull has been ranging from 4-8 inches now and we are getting out. Round lake has anywhere from 7-11 inches. Walleyes have been getting caught on weedline breaks or rock humps. Try a shiner or rainbow on a deadstick or a jigging spoon with a fathead in 14-25 feet of water. I’ve been targeting Gull and Round mainly. As always mornings and evenings are best. The panfish bite has been very good. I have been catching crappies and gills on several area lakes this week. I’ve been targeting the suspended fish. A crappie minnow on a deadstick, plastics on a small jig, or euro larva on a small jig is all working. Some lakes the bite has been very good during the daytime hours and others have been better in evenings and after dark.
Good Luck,
Nick Miltimore
