Anyone know of any good podcasts for open-water fishing? I would much prefer local to MN. Not saying I can’t learn something from some guys in Michigan or a bass guy in Texas, but I’d like to hear from MN or WI people that are going through the same weather patterns, water levels, etc. I see a lot of people post about some good YouTube fishing shows but I just don’t have the screen time for that, whereas I listen to podcasts all the time while I’m outside working. I tried searching past forums because I know we’ve talked on here before about fishing podcasts but it seemed to mainly be ice fishing related.

Currently about the best I can do is the FAN outdoors podcasts, which I really do enjoy because of the people on them. Just looking for more options.

Yeah the only one I recall is an ice fishing one called “the short rod show” if I remember right. Never listened but sounds like it’s good based on comments.

The KFAN one is good but they need some new blood in there other than Tackle Terry. Maybe there is but he’s the only guy I ever hear on there?

    Walleye Talk on iTunes.

A couple of guides out of the Longville area that fish some of the smaller lakes in the area along with the east/north side of Leech primarily

There are platforms like Apple that sponsor all kinds of podcasts. I walk my dog a lot and have listened to fishing & cycling podcasts. The fishing ones don’t tend to be very interesting. Too much fluff & infomercials for my liking.

I’ll second Walleye talk with Wil and Dan. Lots of information to soak in from them!

Jay has been involved in the fishing industry his whole life, mostly in the musky industry. But he’s been invovled with several musky guides in the MN region as well.

In this session, he has Ty Sennett who has been on IDO show with James the last several ice seasons.

Man, I was just thinking the same thing about the need of getting into new fishing podcasts now that KFAN is only doing 1 show a week.

Every once in a while I’ll listen to Fishin’ Paul Bunyan Country – has several MN guides weekly.

    Great info. Appreciate this thread/topic.

Be cool to have an IDO podcast. There are some posters on here I bet would be great guests, too. I’m thinking guys like Crappie Tom who has forgotten more about crappie fishing than I remember. Maybe SPAM and fishing beer tips from BK…ok, maybe a stretch there. But I think there are some posters on IDO who have a wealth of knowledge and I”d love to hear them ‘interviewed’ by someone like James or Pat etc.

Agreed! I like the idea of tips from the pros like BK and Tom amongst others. Shockers you can contribute some sheep tips! I can share those as well! There are a couple guys from H2H fishing that are a wealth of knowledge(captain Keller and Russel). If you guys aren’t watching, its great entertainment

I may have to charge for my sheep tutorial. I’m quite proficient. Put on a real master show on Saturday. Just call me The Shepherd.

Hardwater fishing show during ice season. Guys are awesome and seem like weekend warriors which is awesome. Plus they drink beer.

An IDO podcast with a different guest each week or every couple weeks would be pretty cool. There’s a lot of knowledge on here and it’d be a great way to keep the site traffic and IDO brand fresh in everyone’s minds during the portion of the year where new shows aren’t posted weekly.
