10# 832 with 8# flourocarbon leader or 7# or 8# flouroice if it’s cold out.

4-6 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid mostly. It’s a fluorocarbon/copolymer blend. The actual breaking strength is about double the rated strength, so I use the 4lb a lot. It handles very well on a spinning reel, especially when treated with KVD Line and Lure Conditioner.

Some rods are rigged up with 8-10lb Sufix 832 with a 6-10lb fluorocarbon leader. I’m a firm believer in using the fluorocarbon line marketed as ‘leader material’. It comes in pricey little 20-25yd spools. It’s a little stiffer and sometimes a little thicker, but it’s a LOT tougher than the reel-fill line, and it ties much better line-to-line connection knots, like the double uni or Alberto knot.

BT so if the break strength on the Yo-zuri 6lb is double(12lb) why do you need the 10lb suffix? Thanks

I’d go 10# at a minimum for larger fish. As mentioned before, use a high quality fluoro leadter like Seaguar Blue Label and an Alberto knot.

You want the heavier line for getting a big fish turned in the hole through thick ice. A lot of lines can get broke right at that moment or fish will come unhooked if you don’t get them turned fast enough.

For me that totally depends on the lake. Dark water like Lotw or Winnipeg I would run either 10# 832 to a 10# flouro leader, or straight 10# flouro (I like Berkley Vanish). Go big or go home in dirty water, the fish don’t seem to mind.
Now if I was fishing clear water like Mille Lacs, I’m running straight 5 or 6 pound flouro .
