this thread is just about fishing. If you have anything to say about fishing please post here. Anyone have anything to say about fishing? Personally I miss the hell out of it. I have been so busy getting my house ready for sale and doing family obligations I haven’t been out all month. Hows the bite been on P2? getting hot yet? anyone catching woppers in the west metro? How about those fancy new mini rippin raps those turn out to be a big hit? Whos gearing up to get that boat wet! I know I am.

Hope this thread takes off! I’m excited for open water. Had a great ice season but the ice is rotten down in my parts now. So just waiting for it to melt away. As for the #3 rippin rap it was kind of a bust for me actually. It falls to slow for my liking. It’s hard to get it back down on a school or crappies before they’re gone.

I like where your heads at. I’ve been doing killer on crappie and perch with the Eurotackle Z-vibers and the new #3 Rippin Rap. Gotta say, I like the Z-vibers better for panfish. Sometimes I need to tip them, but usually I don’t.

The warmer weather should make the Mississippi backwater panfish bite kick on pretty soon, which i’m really gearing up for.

No gearing up the boat for me, it can stay where it’s at for at least another month-month and a half…Some of the best panfish bites are yet to come!

Thank you! Finally a post about fishing. I cannot wait to dust off my boat a couple weekends from now.

My boat’s rod storage can hold 10 AR-15s that I purchased from Dicks along with two NRA T-Shirts and a “Make America Great Again” hat. The livewell can also fit about 200lbs of netted walleyes from Mille Lacs. My quiet 4-stroke Mercury makes it possible for me to scream at people about the greatness of my K-Drill while running full throttle up the channel. My anti-DNR flag fits perfectly in the Scotty rod holders while running from spot to spot so I can blame other people or agencies for my inept fishing abilities or lack of fish (as dozens are drying up in my freezer).

buckybadger that’s some good info but why don’t you grow a pair and actually get full-blown controversial instead of dancing around the drama…how many Mauer/Parise/Suter contracts would it take for you to upgrade your boat? And when you do upgrade, where there be enough room in your new boat for any guests to stand or kneel for the national anthem as they deem fit? And how will you ever get the boat out with the unpredictability of the weather, seeing how every single educated weatherman is always wrong?

Good thread crappie, bold move to divert from politics on this fishing forum. Personally I still want to get some ice time in. As I stated on another thread a few weeks ago, I typically fall in love with whatever season I’m in and don’t want it to end. So I’m hoping to still talk some panfish into hanging out with me before ice out.

Also crappie, I apologize if this is getting too personal, but you posted awhile back about your dieting efforts and a lot of folks chimed in with some good info. How’s everything going with that?

With my work load I don’t think I will be stepping back onto the ice. I am hoping to get enough of it out of the way so I can try for the white bass run. I have been wanting to try that for years now and I know my son would have a blast with it. I started reviewing older post about it last night.

Well, it made it to 5 posts anyhow……
Fishings been great. I love ice fishing. Dont have a boat, and i work my butt off all summer and fall so i can hit the hard water. 2 more months would be fine with me!
I laugh when i hear all the negative comments of folks on how horrible the bite is……YOURE FISHING!!!!!! What ever happened to “a bad day fishing beats a good day at work”!? Ive been finding good bites in places that others dont look. My fav hooks have been the smallest 2 sizes of northland forage spoons. Caught everything on them.
Good luck everyone hitting the ice or water!

Plenty of good stuff going on, thanks for posting Crappie! Walked a couple times for sheds, but nothing found yet. Some great crappie fishing to be had with all the good ice, and Freeze your Butt is this weekend which is the kickoff of P4 season in my book. Plenty of border land opportunities for toothy critters still, and once the ice is off it’s game on.

sure is great to see some pictures of fish! Nicely done pailofperch! Those gills have some pretty color on them!

Very funny bucky! LOL. I think you hit all the marks

Dan my diet is done with now. I really appreciate all the feedback on it. I lost 20 lbs and quickly gained about 10 back a week after I quit. I knew that would happen but that’s ok. I wasn’t in it to change my life I was just sort of interested in seeing how a diet went. It was an interesting experiment and a good learning experience for me

I’ve been talking and emailing about fishing all morning.

Seems like WI is working on a bill that passed 14/0 for noodling and shooting catfish with a bow.

Back to fishing… I really want to get out in a boat but I’m focusing on a little backwater ice fishing Saturday morning.

I need to feel that tug!

Currently illegal, but also might add to the “question for our lawmakers” thread.

I thought we were talking about fishing?

I am going fishing with my Dad on Friday. He drives up from Iowa and I try to show him a good time. He taught me how to fish. We have caught just about everything that swims together.

I can’t decide whether to take him ice fishing or try Pool 4. Tough decisions but somebody has got to make them.

I hit the ice pretty hard in Jan, then took a warm weather vacation in Feb and kinda lost the mojo for it. I got family stuff the next couple weekends and then have my sights set on a maiden voyage to the Rainy River, end of March or early April.

Also planning on taking my 5 year old son camping for the first time. Just bought a new tent and am dusting off my old camping gear and booked a site at Whitewater State Park on 4/20 already looking forward to showing him the trout streams

I had one of my boats out on the local river yesterday. A fair amount of ice moving downstream as I checked out several creek inlets. I worked a couple areas with a jig and plastic but found no takers. Did not have my locator mounted so I don’t know what the water temps was. I’ll be on the water pretty much every day from here on out.

Let bump this back up. When do you guys think you’ll be on the lakes? In my neck of the woods I’m hoping two weeks but that might be a little early.

Pool 4 this weekend for FYB! Then leave Sunday for Mexico and some inshore rooster fishing. Bringing down the pike gear!

I hit open water every month in 2017 and 2018 so I’d call that a success.

I have found 24 to 30inchs of ice on LAKE PEPIN so I will be on the ice for some time. I saw a guy drill a hole without a extension on his auger. He just made it through with nothing to spare. . rrr PS. An the bite is ok not hot but you can still get your fish. Mostly Sugars with a eye now an then. There has been a fair perch an croppies bite also.
