I have a pair of 15 year old Rocky hunting boots with 200gram. They need replacing, I seen the other post for ice fishing boots but I have a pair winter boots already. I like the Rocky’s because they are light and form fitting with no bulk. Question is do I stay with a 200gram boot or look at the 400, 600gram boots similar to what I have?

Really depends on what you’re looking to spend. Kenetreks will run ya a little over $400 but are widely considered the best boot around. I bought a pair of Crispi Wild Rocks on a really good deal at Scheels. They’ve got gore-tex lining, 400g insulation, and excellent ankle support. Using them for ice fishing, deer/pheasant hunting around here, and taking them west to hunt in the mountains. Highly recommend!

If your going elk hunting the Cabelas perfect hunters is a great boot. winter fishing, the white rubber bunny boot is hard to beat.

I just bought some LaCrosse Alphaburly Pro Boot 1600G for the deer stand and ice fishing. Best boot I’ve ever owned and they’re currently on sale for 149.99 on Scheels’ website. Very warm rubber boot. Haven’t gotten nippy in it yet and they’re waterproof all the way up. Not too bad to walk around in either! My grouse boots are Danner Pronghorn’s 400g and those are really nice for grouse hunting but they disappointed me while ice fishing. Not enough insulation for when it’s down in the teens, single digits, and lower.

I have been using a pair of the lacrosse Aerohead 7mm boots. They’re light, warm and provide me all day comfort. Currently on sale for 70ish bucks through lacrosse.

I have a lot of miles, and thousands of hours on my Irish Setters for both hunting and fishing and they are awesome. I like 800 grams personally as I rarely bird hunt when it’s too hot, and they are excellent on the snow/ice.

Under $150, Irish Setter Vaportreks. Under $200, Danner Pronghorns or IS Havocs. Over $200, kenetrek, crispi, etc.
