How cool would it be to feed a dolphin while out fishing.

You see them in the intracoastal all the time and I always wonder if people accidentally ever get them on the line.

Dolphins are quite fast and you would probably not run over one. They will often show up if you are catching fish and releasing them. They will hang in the area and pounce on any released fish. They seem to know that it is an easy meal. If you move, do not be too surprised to find that they have followed you. It is possible to hand feed them, but it is not legal to do so in Florida.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about this when I saw the video. I mean you cannot “harass” alligators, they have many speed limits for manatees, but you can feed a dolphin?

I have to admit, it would be hard to fight the urge to do this.

Have you seen the Dolphins down in Brazil that help the fishermen net their fish? If I remember right, the Dolphins have been doing this over several generations.

Not sure why the fruit phone capitalizes Dolphins. As if the Miami Dolphins are relevant.

Boca Grand and the Sanibel/Ft Myers area is my absolute favorite part of Florida! I always enjoy seeing the dolphins off the beach when I wade fish the Sanibel shore on family vacations, but the last time I thought “oh look a dolphin! it’s so close!” it turned out it was a Bull shark about 8ft long. Oh and after going about 20yds closer to shore…turned out it followed me. I went back to the condo and rigged my shark rod and reel up. No luck all night long though lol

Its hard not giving up a couple shrimp to the little white herons that will hang out with you. They know what a magic bait pail looks like.

    Those pelicans though. PITA!

Years ago, when Billy and I were fishing in FL on our honeymoon, several dolphins were following us around in the Gulf picking off the fish we were throwing back. As you can see in the photo, the water was so blue and clean you could see them coming, and dive right for the fish! Some of them would even swim alongside the boat as we changed fishing spots. I absolutely love dolphins and it was amazing to see wild dolphins like that. )

In the keys celebrating 10 years together and checking out wedding venues.

Stopped at Robby’s today to feed the tarpon. Should make a good video.

Agreed, but not as likely to shut down the fishing.
