    I got a clam fish trap guide really cheap a few years ago and just upgraded the canvas to the new nanook thermal so for anyone wondering it does fit. my question is does anyone have a cheap/yet good alternative to adding runners to the sled? Ive noticed some guys using skis? Or is paying $50+ for hyfax runners worth it? Thanks in advance!

    Get the skis and build a smitty sled. It will be way easier to pull!

    I have a full thermal Clam 2 man, (don’t remember the name) I bought 2 sets of hyfax and have no regrets putting them on all 4 runners. I use it behind the snowmobile during ice fishing and they still look like new. So if I can give any advice is to buy the hyfax for the sled.

    Skis=easy pulling by hand
    Hyfax=prevents wear on sled

    I just did the same thing the other day. Pulled my house out of the shed, even with a box of dryer sheets in it, a few mice decided to chew a couple holes in my guide canvas. Got the Nanook Thermal and fit perfectly!

    I used pvc house trim on my nanook. Works great. I used a heat gun to soften it up and molded it to the sled. Just don’t counter sink the holes. Drill through the pvc and sled. When you tighten the bolt the head will sink in.

    I payed $229 from Clam. Well worth it to me. Still much less for me ( got the trap for next to nothing) than a new one. my sled/poles are still in excellent condition.
