I have always liked to use the VMC sure set treble hooks on my set lines.

Me too. By far the best hooking percentage of all the hooks I’ve tried. FWIW a little birdie told me they’re coming back. whistling

I prefer a treble hook over a single when soaking minnows. This is particularly true when the bait is smaller and the hook size is matched to the size of the bait. As the single hook gets smaller, I don’t like using a single smaller that a #2, my hooking percentage plummets. In those situations I’ve had outstanding results with small #12-#22 trebles. They look small but with two free hook points at all times I’ve had outstanding results.

Interesting. #22 trebles must be tiny.

Very. They only get used when fishing tiny minnows for perch and crappie.

I usually use #2 octopus hooks on rattle reels and tip ups. When I have used treble hooks it seems i hook to many in the throat. That’s where I feel the single hook is easier to remove, going in through the gill and twisting it out of the throat. Maybe i just let them go to long before setting because cause I was always use to fishing single hooks. Anyone have similar experience?

I have always liked to use the VMC sure set treble hooks on my set lines. They however have been discontinued. Does anyone know if a replacement for the vmc sure set hooks?

You could find them a few years ago in bulk on some online sites. I may be sitting on 12-15 dozen of assorted sizes. Shouldnt have to worry about running out for quite a long time

My experience is the opposite. Because I don’t need to wait at all to set the hook it is incredibly rare to hook a fish deep. As soon as I get to the fish that popped the flag I’m able to set the hook which means the fish doesn’t have time to swallow the minnow and hook.

Lurepartsonline.com sold them in bulk at a great price for a long time. I assume they now have run out as well because when I checked a few days ago I couldn’t find the sure sets on their site.

Has anyone tried the VMC X-Rap trebbles yet? They have the feathers on it, as the name applies, like the crankbait. Saw them at scheels yesterday and picked some up. I dont recall seeing them last year, are they new?

I saw some YouTube video where the guy removes the original trebles on lures and adds the one with the feathers.
