I am building a a drop down fish house with my brother and we have the framing done and now we have decided to go with the aluminum sheets for siding.
I want to know if anyone has run the sheets horizontal? V.S. running it vertical.

I only ask because I could get away with only buying 8 sheets if I run it horizontal 4×10′ sheets. Otherwise if I run it vertical I would have to buy 11 sheets and waste 2.5ft off of every piece.

I tried searching to see if anyone has done it but I couldn’t find anything.

This is our first build, so any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Think horizontal would be better anyways because you can overlap the bottom sheet with the top sheet to stop water leaking? Am I right or have no clue? lol

That’s kind of what I was thinking but every where I have looked they always run them vertical. So I was just checking to see if there is a reason I wouldn’t be able to run it horizontal.

Maybe its more difficult to put up?

Horz is ok but it makes the placement of the seams on top of a wall stud nearly impossible. Vertical is better with the mindset that the fishouse/trailer might go 70 mph down the road. The water won’t be an issue either way if you use the correct vhb tapes.
Find an enclosed trailer with horz seams – good luck…

I can guide you in the right direction but I have a few questions for you –
What are your wall studs made out of?
    What are the centerline dimensions?
Do you have a firm backer between the studs?
What is your aluminum wall thickness .030, .040?
Do you have a way to shear and form up the outside corner guards to overlap the seams?
    PM me if you wish.
